On Friday, September 1, 2017, after an extensive and ongoing investigation, the Boston Regional Intelligence Center analyst assigned to gang investigations was able to determine that a member of the MS-13 gang wished in a series of assaults in Brighton, MA, identified as Carlos Campos-Cutone, may be the same individual wished for questioning in a homicide that occurred on August 25, two thousand seventeen in Perth Amboy, Fresh Jersey. An internal memo was distributed to members of the Boston Police Department, and based on this information, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force familiar with the MS-13 gang and its members began an investigation.

INCIDENT #1: At about 11:35 AM on Saturday, September Two, 2017, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for shots fired in the area of two hundred Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Upon arrival, officers located ballistics and processed the scene. Officers canvassed the area and observed three masculines walking in the area of Walnut Avenue and Holworthy Street. Officers observed that the masculines were walking at a hurried rhythm, sweating profusely, and breathing intensely. As officers approached, two of the masculines broke off and began to run. Officers pursued the two masculines, who split up as they fled. The very first masculine fled on Walnut toward Harishoff. As the masculine fled past a vehicle with an open door, the officer in pursuit observed him reach into his waistband, pull out a firearm, and throw it toward the open door. When the witness standing by the door picked up the firearm, the officer discontinued the pursuit and recovered the loaded Taurus Millenium 9mm firearm. The suspect made good his escape. Meantime, the 2nd masculine was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit. A frisk of the 2nd suspect exposed a loaded MOD RG13 .22 caliber firearm in his pocket. Officers arrested the 16-year-old juvenile from Brockton and charged him with Delinquent to wit; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm, and Resisting Arrest.

Officers were provided with a vehicle description and plate number of the suspect vehicle. As they approached Washington Street and Columbia Road, they observed the suspect vehicle stopped at the crimson light on Columbia Road. Officers made a stop of the vehicle and its two occupants at the intersection. As a result of the stop and the ensuing investigation, officers learned that the operator had brandished a firearm at the victim. Officers located a loaded Kimber Pro Raptor II .45 caliber firearm reported lost out of Braintree inwards the car. Officers arrested the operator, 19-year-old Betson Tavares-Depina of Dorchester, and charged him with Onslaught by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (Gun), Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm. The passenger, 22-year-old Kurvan Vidal of Dorchester, was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm. Vidal was also found to have an active default warrant for his arrest.

BPD Officers Arrest Suspect Wished in Connection to Non-Fatal Stabbing in Downtown Crossing: At about Two:30pm, Tuesday, September Five, 2017, members of the Boston Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit located and apprehended Davongie Stone, 20, of Boston, a suspect dreamed in connection to a non-fatal stabbing which occurred over the weekend. At about 12:40am, September Trio, 2017, officers from District A-1 (Downtown) responded to call for a person stabbed in the area of Washington and Winter Streets. On arrival, officers located a masculine victim who was transported to an area hospital where he was treated for life menacing injuries. After a comprehensive investigation, investigators were able to ascertain the identity of the suspect. Earlier today, at about Two:30pm, the suspect was seen walking in the area of Boston Common. Upon eyeing the suspect, officers approached and took him into custody. Davongie Stone is charged with Attack with Intent to Murder, Armed Robbery and Intent to Rob while Armed. The suspect is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. The suspect is also wished in connection to two armed assaults in Cambridge.

Death Investigation in the area of one hundred fourteen Stoughton Street in Dorchester: At about Ten:46am, on Tuesday, September Five, 2017, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to an inwards scene for a person shot in the area of one hundred fourteen Stoughton Street (Creole International Barber Shop) in Dorchester. On arrival, officers located a masculine victim, believed to be in his twenties, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

The Boston Police Department is actively reviewing the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident. Anyone with information relative to the investigation is strongly urged to contact Boston Police Homicide Detectives at (617) 343-4470.
